A boat dock on the Intercoastal Waterway in Volusia County suffers some sort of stress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Compounding the stress, poorly designed docks and improperly installed piles significantly increased the major damage, and/or total loss that occurred during Hurricane Irma. Piles are driven into bedrock, to minimize the possibility of being destroyed during excessive high tides.

Docks and terminal platforms can be built to any length and dimension, as permitted by licensing authorities. Walkways can be built at any length, but are commonly constructed in 10 foot increments.
